Agreement allows recognition of maintenance work carried out and strengthens the management of an important road that connects Cajamarca and La Libertad. The Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC), through the General Directorate of Transportation Programs and Projects (DGPPT), signed Addendum No. 2 to the concession contract for the Longitudinal de la Sierra Highway Section 2 with the Concesionaria Vial Sierra Norte S.A. The agreement will allow continuity in the correct execution of the contract and strengthen the maintenance of this important road that connects the regions of Cajamarca and La Libertad.
The addendum will allow recognition of the initial periodic maintenance work carried out by the concessionaire, adapting the payment mechanism established in the contract.
With this modification, the MTC complies with the provisions of Arbitration Award No. 0517-2022-CCL, provides greater legal certainty to both parties and ensures that the recognition of these works is carried out without increasing the total cost of the contract, without altering the economic-financial balance of the concession and the allocation of risks.
Furthermore, the signing of this agreement allows us to continue complying with contractual obligations within the current legal framework, strengthening the management of a key road infrastructure for the north of the country.
The Longitudinal Highway of the Sierra Section 2, which includes the intervention of more than 875 km through rehabilitation, operation and maintenance works, is a strategic route that facilitates the transportation of people and goods, promotes commerce, energizes productive activities and improves connectivity between various towns in Cajamarca and La Libertad.
With this agreement, the MTC reaffirms its commitment to guarantee the continuity of road concessions, promoting a safe, efficient transportation infrastructure for the benefit of the population.
