Arequipa is sustainable Senace approved the Seventh Technical Support Report of the Arcata Mining Unit, presented by Sierra Minera Caraz S.A.C., a project that will contribute to economic development and promote mining investment in the district of Cayarani, province of Condesuyo, Arequipa region.
Directorial Resolution No. 00010-2026-SENACE-PE/DEAR of January 30, 2026, granted environmental viability to the project that involves the relocation of drilling platforms, change in the mining method, and expansion of quarries, among other improvements to optimize operations.
The company complied with the provisions established in the Regulation of Environmental Protection and Management for Mining Exploitation, Beneficiation, General Work, Transportation and Storage Activities, approved by Supreme Decree No. 040-2014-EM in accordance with Ministerial Resolution No. 120-2014-MEM/DM, which approves the new criteria that regulate the modification of mining components or extensions and technological improvements in the mining units of exploration and exploitation with non-significant environmental impacts that have environmental certification; as well as the minimum structure of the technical report that the mining owner must present.
The Sustaining Technical Report - ITS is an environmental management instrument that allows the approval of modifications or extensions of investment projects that generate non-significant impacts on the environment, and the incorporation of technological improvements, guaranteeing compliance with current environmental regulations and promoting sustainable development.
