The national director of Architecture, MartΓn Tierno, toured different institutions in the department of Colonia that have works in progress within the framework of the Social Agreements program and participated in the inauguration of the new facilities of the civil association Looking for Space, in Colonia del Sacramento.
The civil association Looking for Space inaugurated new facilities aimed at strengthening the activities it carries out with people with disabilities from the age of 14. The work included the construction of a new independent kitchen and a pantry, spaces that will allow cooking classes to be held and products to be prepared.
The institution, founded in 2000, aims to plan, promote and coordinate intellectual and physical activities for people with disabilities. The project had a contribution of $2 million from the Ministry of Transportation and Public Works (MTOP).
Visit to social works in progress
During the tour, the director visited projects located in Colonia Valdense, Rosario, Juan Lacaze and Nueva Palmira, which involve improvements and expansions of sports, social and care infrastructure for people with disabilities. In each of these projects, the MTOP made a contribution of $2 million.
At the Club AtlΓ©tico Esparta in Colonia Valdense, work is underway on the construction of bathrooms for the public, stands, a multipurpose floor for the gym and other renovations. The project presents progress close to 71%. In Rosario, meanwhile, the expansion of the headquarters of the Everton Athletic Club is being carried out, which includes the construction of a sports hall with changing rooms, a meeting room and a social room.
The tour continued in Juan Lacaze, where two projects were visited. At the Independent Athletic and Social Club, a 573-square-meter floating sports floor was placed on the concrete field of the closed gym. The work will improve the conditions for the practice of different sports disciplines and will benefit approximately 850 people. As part of the compensation established in the agreement, the club will provide its facilities to Liceo No. 2 and the INAU free of charge for five years.
The works of the Barrio CharrΓΊa Social, Sports and Development Club were also toured, where the renovation of the headquarters was carried out. The work is currently fully executed.
In Nueva Palmira, the national director of Architecture visited the Center for Attention to the Disabled (CADIS), an institution that has been operating since 1992 and works with people with disabilities. The project includes the construction of changing rooms and bathrooms for its closed and heated pool, a high-impact infrastructure for the community, since it is the only pool intended for physical rehabilitation in the town.
