π Tender Overview
The third season of the regional track of the Sber Science Award will take place in nine regions of Russia. Students will meet with renowned scientists -- the 2025 award laureates -- and attend their lectures. Key events will be available online on the official website. On October 21, at ITMO (St. Petersburg), Mikhail Medvedev (laureate in the AI in Science. Physical World category) will give a lecture The lecturer not only applies AI to search for new chemical compounds and reactions but also changes the very approaches in theoretical chemistry. He will explain how new technologies help move chemistry forward: from literature analysis and retrosynthesis to neural network methods of molecular modeling and fundamental chemical models. The expert will also touch on the challenges one may encounter when using AI in science and reveal how to avoid them. On October 27, at VSTU (Voronezh), and in November (follow the schedule on the at DSTU (Rostov-on-Don), Roman Solovyov, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (laureate in the Digital Universe category), will deliver a lecture This is a report on the paradigm shift in hardware development: how, amid the exponential growth in microelectronics complexity, to move away from manual parameter tuning -- toward automation with AI. The focus is on using reinforcement learning for chip layout, graph and convolutional neural networks for topology analysis, and the introduction of LLMs and multi-agent systems for code generation and functional verification. How to do what usually takes years -- in months. On November 18, at Immanuel Kant BFU (Kaliningrad), and on November 25, at BSMU (Ufa), Boris Alekseyev, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (laureate in the Life Sciences category), will present a lecture . The laureate will talk about advanced molecular genetic methods and cellular technologies in oncology. He will also share in detail data on the developed and implemented method of molecular diagnosis of prostate cancer micrometastases in lymph nodes, which helps improve the effectiveness of surgical treatment for patients. On November 24, at KFU (Kazan), Dmitry Penzar (laureate in the AI in Science. Life Sciences category) will give a lecture titled . The scientist will present a new view of the role of regulatory regions of the genome and the consequences of mutations in them. He will explain how artificial intelligence helps with decoding, as well as what prospects for medical diagnostics and gene therapy arise thanks to these new tools. On November 25, a discussion will be held at Innopolis University. The participants are Dmitry Penzar and Mikhail Medvedev. They will discuss what the science of the future and AI platforms for scientists will look like. Using specific examples, the experts will analyze how AI accelerates research and discoveries in chemistry, biology, genetics, and other fields. On November 25, at NSU (Novosibirsk), and on November 27, at YarSU (Yaroslavl), Sergey Krivovichev, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (laureate in the Physical World category), will deliver a lecture . The researcher will talk about new information-theoretical approaches to analyzing the diversity of the mineral world and its evolution, as well as whether it is possible to predict the presence of life on other objects in the universe based on mineralogical information. The Sber Science Award has been presented annually since 2022. It is aimed at supporting scientists and developing scientific research in Russia. In 2026, the awards total prize fund will reach a record RUB 111 mn. Three personal awards will be presented (in the Physical World, Life Sciences, and Digital Universe categories) of RUB 30 mn each, as well as three awards of RUB 7 mn to young scientists up to and including 35 years of age for outstanding achievements obtained using artificial intelligence (AI in Science). The lecture broadcast schedule is available on the website.
