π Tender Overview
The restart of the work includes specialized technical interventions to ensure access and the stability of the land. The Regional Government of San Martin reported that the work on the Santa Rosa de Mishollo - Tupac Amaru pedestrian bridge, located in the district of Polvora, province of Tocache, was restarted on May 11, after being suspended due to heavy rains and instability problems on the slopes in the area.
The announcement was made by the regional manager of Infrastructure, Fidel Calle Santisteban, who explained that the weather conditions recorded in recent months modified the characteristics of the terrain, mainly affecting the access to the bridge and forcing a technical rethink of part of the execution of the work.
According to the official, the project currently has progress of more than 50%, pending the installation of the metal structure, the panel and the cable system. He also indicated that the slope stabilization work is part of a complementary intervention supported by specialized soil studies and technical analyzes developed during the suspension period.
Calle Santisteban specified that the decision to temporarily paralyze the work responded to preventive and safety criteria, due to the risk generated by landslides and soil erosion in areas near the river bank. In this context, he pointed out that the Regional Government prioritized the formulation of comprehensive solutions that ensure the sustainability of the project and reduce risks for the population settled in the area of influence.
Regarding the observations made by the Comptroller General of the Republic, related to possible effects on nearby homes, the official recognized that some properties located on the marginal strip of the river present vulnerable conditions. However, he clarified that the Regional Government has been coordinating technical and administrative actions to evaluate alternatives that contribute to mitigating existing risks.
The work of the Michoyo-Tupac Amaru bridge is considered a strategic infrastructure for the beneficiary communities, because it will improve pedestrian connectivity and facilitate the transfer of agricultural products and other economic activities in the area.
