π Tender Overview
The organization led the evaluation of impacts in the field and reinforced regional coordination to protect the ecosystems of the Amazon. The Decentralized Office (ODE) of San Martin of the Environmental Assessment and Supervision Agency (OEFA) participated in the 2nd Regional Fire Drill, held in the district of Sacanche, province of Huallaga. The activity was organized by the Regional Emergency Operations Center (COER) of the Regional Government of San Martin and brought together the members of the Civil Defense Platform of the region.
During the activity, the OEFA deployed its technical team to supervise that the emergency response includes the environmental component. The possible impacts of the simulated fire on the flora, fauna, air quality and water resources were evaluated, and it was verified that the responsible entities comply with prevention, control and recovery measures in the affected areas. With this, the agency ensured that the regional response not only focuses on putting out the fire, but also on avoiding long-term environmental damage.
Forest fires destroy ecosystems that take years to recover. That is why at OEFA we supervise and provide technical assistance so that each response action protects the population and the environment, said a representative of the ODE San Martin. OEFAs participation in this drill reaffirms its commitment to working jointly with the COER and local governments to reduce the regions vulnerability to emergencies and guarantee the right to a healthy environment.
The 2nd Regional Fire Drill is part of the preventive actions promoted by the Regional Government of San Martin for the 2026 season. With its presence in the field, OEFA demonstrates that environmental control is key to safer and more sustainable risk management in the Amazon.
