π Tender Overview
Areas of cooperation between Samoa and the International Labour Organization (ILO) for the coming years moved closer to finalisation following a workshop held in Apia recently.
Representatives from the Samoa National Tripartite Forum (SNTF), Child Labour Taskforce and other stakeholders participated in a half day validation workshop of the Samoa Decent Work Country Programme (DWCP) 2024-28 on 26 August 2024.
DWCPs are the main framework for delivering ILOβs support to promote Decent Work For All to its member countries including Samoa. According to Martin Wandera, the Director of the ILO Office for Pacific Island Countries, βthe DWCP has been aligned with Samoaβs national development priorities and the United Nations Pacific Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2023-2027. The DWCP therefore constitutes ILOβs contribution to the wider UN effort in Samoa towards the achievement of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goalsβ.
The workshop provided the opportunity for the participants to provide comments and recommendations to improve the DWCP priorities, outcomes, outputs and indicators as part of the validation process.
It was facilitated by Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labour (MCIL) and the ILO with support from Innovative Business Consultants (IBC).
Speaking at the event the Honourable Leota Laki Lamositele Sio, Minister for Commerce, Industry & Labour recognized the, βTremendous contributions by stakeholders, implementing partners, Samoa National Tripartite Forum (SNTF) and importantly the ILO for their continued technical and financial support to deliver initiatives that are pertinent to the development of our labour systems and promoting decent work for all in law and practice.β
It is expected that the DWCP 2024-28 will be finalised and launched in November 2024.
