📋 Tender Overview
Rostelecom continues to work within the framework of the federal project “Eliminating the Digital Divide” (UCN 2.0). Since the beginning of the year, the provider has installed and put into operation another 15 base stations in five districts of the Kursk region. To achieve this, the company’s specialists laid more than 50 kilometers of optical fiber. Now almost three thousand residents of small settlements [1] have the opportunity to use voice communications and wireless Internet.
Dmitry Zhukov, technical director of the Kursk branch of PJSC Rostelecom:
“Since the beginning of the implementation of the UCN 2.0 project in the region, we have built 155 base stations. The equipment operates using 4G technology, which allows residents of small settlements to live a full digital life: work, study, communicate online, make an appointment with a doctor remotely, receive government services electronically, and make online purchases. By the end of the year, another 34 towers will be installed. As a result, over five thousand residents of villages remote from the regional center will always be in touch!”
Ekaterina Popova, resident of Sudzhansky district:
“Connecting to the mobile network of our village was a long-awaited event. We lived for several years without voice communication, not to mention the Internet. And now we have everything we need for a normal life. At any time, on the street or at home, we communicate with our family via instant messengers and spend time on the Internet. My brother didn’t even immediately believe that we would now always be in touch. I came from the city to personally measure the data transfer speed. He said that it was comparable to the city.”
Let us remind you that the construction of base stations is carried out as part of the second stage of the digital divide elimination project (UCN 2.0), which is designed for remote villages, towns, villages, where from 100 to 500 people live. The towers are connected via optical fiber, which provides high data transfer speeds and a wide coverage radius.
