Rostelecom is developing a project to build a completely import-independent automated payment system for the B2B and B2G segments based on Nexign products. Its goal is to create a billing system that will provide support for the entire range of Rostelecom ICT services, both currently and taking into account future development plans, including fifth-generation networks. Rostelecom presented the project at the plenary session (PCS) “Mobile communications” and “Fixed communications” at the CIPR-2024 forum.
The new solution will fully meet the needs of B2B operators, whose corporate clients have more than 5 million employees, and will also help reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) of the IT landscape. In addition, it will be built on Russian infrastructure in accordance with the requirements of technological sovereignty.
The level of import substitution in the telecom industry has always been quite high, and operators have built and continue to build their IT landscape based on Russian technologies. However, many domestic vendors still use foreign components in their solutions, including in the BSS/OSS layer. Building a completely import-independent automated system is a key challenge for the telecom industry.
