Rostelecom has completed a series of cybersecurity classes for schoolchildren and students in the Kostroma region. During this academic year (from September to May), the provider’s specialists conducted about 50 classes, in which more than two thousand people took part. Company employees told listeners about online threats and fraud schemes, explained how to avoid becoming a victim of deception, and much more. Particular attention was paid to the rules of conduct on social networks.
Roman Russkikh, director of the branch of PJSC Rostelecom in the Yaroslavl and Kostroma regions:
“Our priority task is not only to provide residents of the region with high-quality communications, but also to teach the rules of digital hygiene. For example, on Runet’s birthday, we held family cyber quizzes in which children and parents participated. They solved digital problems together and answered questions. A social poster competition was held for technical school students. Teenagers drew pictures of a “dangerous” and “safe” online world. We intend to continue our educational work next academic year.”
Marina Sheremetyeva, director of the Kostroma Motor Transport College:
“Today's youth actually live in a virtual world. It is impossible to call him absolutely friendly. Many of our students have repeatedly talked about trolling, attempts to “steal” their personal data, and threats they were subjected to on social networks. In order to prevent such situations, Internet users must clearly know the rules of digital hygiene. We thank our colleagues from Rostelecom for the important and informative class hours! I hope the knowledge gained will protect our children from cybercriminals.”
Cybersecurity is one of the priorities of modern society, which is why Rostelecom regularly conducts classes to improve digital literacy. This work also aligns with the Alliance's goals to protect children digitally and create a comfortable and safe digital environment. In addition, several years ago, the provider’s specialists prepared the book “A Beautiful, Dangerous, Cyber-Safe World.” This publication can be found in all school libraries in Kostroma.
