The global failure of Windows systems demonstrates the need to abandon foreign software at critical facilities, the Ministry of Digital Development told RBC.
βThe situation with Microsoft once again demonstrates the importance of import substitution of foreign software, primarily at critical information infrastructure facilities,β said a ministry representative.
Russian airports have not reported any disruptions following global reports of problems, the Ministry of Digital Development noted.
Rosaviatsia reported that Russian airports and airlines are operating normally, and flights are being carried out on schedule. "Domestic civil aviation organizations began implementing specialized Russian software in their work several years ago. The process of import substitution in the industry continues," added agency representative Anton Korenyako.
This morning, a global outage occurred in different countries around the world in the operation of the Microsoft Azure cloud platform - the cloud platform of Microsoft that allows you to run applications and store data on servers located in distributed data centers, CrowdStrike Falcon Sensor is a security system that blocks cyber attacks.
The outage caused problems in the operation of American Airlines, United Airlines, Delta Airlines, Frontier Airlines and other airlines, airports in Sydney, Berlin, Hamburg, London, Frankfurt, Chisinau, Madrid and others, as well as banks and medical systems.
The British TV channel Sky News has been disrupted, the London Stock Exchange has also experienced problems, and in Israel, the outage has affected some hospitals, as well as the postal service and some news agencies. Users from all over the world are complaining on the DownDetector portal about the work of Visa and Mastercard, as well as banks, including AB, ANZ, Commonwealth Bank, Bendigo Bank, Suncorp.
There are very few organizations in Russia that use Microsoft cloud services, and even fewer that use the Falcon Sensor that caused the problem, and therefore the problem will hardly affect Russian companies, Andrey Blagorazumov, vice president of Softline Group, told RBC. CrowdStrike software is very popular all over the world, but this company does not work in Russia, so there may be an insignificant number of devices with this software in the country, agrees Nikita Kislitsin, head of the network security department at FACCT.
