State Secretary - Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Igor Zubov and Minister of Internal Affairs Social Development and Public Security of the Republic of Burundi Gervais Ndirakobucha held a working meeting in Moscow.The parties considered the prospects for developing cooperation in the areas defined by the Cooperation Agreement between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Public Security of the Republic of Burundi which was signed in 2017 and noted the importance of filling the agreements with specific practical content.Igor Zubov highlighted the role of the Republic of Burundi in ensuring regional security in Africa and its sovereign foreign policy. He stressed that the East African country opposed the adoption of a UN General Assembly resolution condemning the conduct of a special military operation by the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine.In the context of the politicization of police activities and sanctions pressure from the West the meeting participants outlined the possibility of coordinating joint work in international organizations primarily in Interpol.Gervais Ndiracobucha in turn thanked the leadership of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for assisting the Burundian police in training specialists in the educational institutions of the department and expressed interest in further using the experience of Russian law enforcement agencies in various aspects of their official activities.
