Chizhov First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security.At the 544th meeting the Federation Council ratified the Fourth Protocol on Amendments to the Charter of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.Vladimir Chizhov First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security presented the document for consideration by colleagues .By the Protocol to be ratified signed on August 26 2022 Article 8 of the CSTO Charter of October 7 2002 which lists the areas of interaction between the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization CSTO is supplemented by a provision on the interaction of countries in the field of biological safety.The current version of this article provides for interaction on the protection of state borders information exchange information security protection of the population and territories from natural and man-made emergencies as well as from dangers arising during or as a result of military operations.In addition according to the amendment made to Article 17 of the CSTO Charter the possibility of early termination of the powers of the CSTO Secretary General is established by a decision taken by the CSTO Council the highest body of the CSTO which includes heads of state or heads of government on the proposal of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CSTO.
