On Friday August 14 2026 the Directorate of Roads and Highways (RSD) will begin the modernization of the D10 highway on the route Prague - Liberec. In the less than four kilometers between Bezdecin and Kosmonosy the left part of the highway will get a completely new surface. The work for 118 million crowns without VAT will take less than two months and will be completed on October 5 2026.
Construction will begin on Friday on the section between 41.4. and the 45th kilometer. To make it as easy as possible for drivers we will maintain traffic in both directions in a provisional 2+1/1 mode. Two narrow lanes will lead from Prague. In the direction of Prague you will drive in one lane in the opposite direction and the other will remain in the standard left lane. In the restriction we will reduce the maximum permitted speed to 80 km/h.
The D10 highway is one of the backbone stretches where up to fifty thousand vehicles pass daily. And the surface suffers greatly under the weight of freight traffic. We will completely mill out the damaged roadway for less than four kilometers near Mlada Boleslav and replace it with a new higher-quality and stronger mixture. We will use about a thousand full automixes of concrete for it explains the spokesperson of the RSD Jan Rydl.
In addition to the replacement of the road itself workers will focus on bridge maintenance strengthening shoulders and repairing retaining walls. Thanks to the set schedule and pressure on the speed of implementation it was possible to reduce the construction time to a minimum. Drivers will return to the repaired and safe surface in early October.
