The Rostelecom company launched four new base stations in Kuzbass in three municipal districts of the region. More than 700 residents received access to voice communications and high-speed Internet of the 4G/LTE standard. The work was carried out within the framework of the second stage of the federal project Eliminating the Digital Divide (UCN 2.0).
To connect base stations to the existing network, Rostelecom specialists laid 30 km of fiber-optic cable. Modern mobile communications have come to the villages of Bezlesny, Yaisky municipal district, and Zagadnoye, Novokuznetsk municipal district, as well as to the village of Urop, Belovsky municipal district. Here, due to the length of the settlement, two towers were built at once so that a stable signal was available not only in the center, but also on the outskirts.
Vladimir Astafiev, head of the Belovsky municipal district:
The village of Urop is a remote settlement, and due to the lack of stable communication, residents faced serious difficulties: in some parts of the village the signal was almost impossible to catch, in others it was extremely unstable. Now villagers have stable mobile communications and high-speed Internet: they can quickly contact their relatives, use online services and solve everyday problems without restrictions. This is not just a technological step forward, but a real improvement in peoples quality of life.
Vasily Vinnikov, director of the Kemerovo branch of PJSC Rostelecom:
The company, together with the Ministry of Digital Development, has been reducing the digital divide between Kuzbass residents living in large cities and small towns since 2021. Over the five years of implementation of the UCN 2.0 project, Rostelecom launched 121 base stations in the region, thereby connecting 116 villages and hamlets to its telecom infrastructure. Behind these figures are people - almost 10 thousand of our fellow countrymen, whose life has become simpler and more comfortable with the advent of stable communications.
