The Directorate of Roads and Highways (RSD) has started repairs on two sections of the Prague Ring Road. We will reconstruct the road surface between Kunratice and Hodkovice and subsequently also in the part of the ring road between the crossing with the D1 highway and Jesenice. The aim is to extend the life of the surface. Driving during repair will be in 2+2 mode. Repairs for almost 144 million crowns without VAT will last until October.
In the sections between the zero and the third kilometer and between 82.5. and 76.6. kilometer including the level crossings we will grind the upper layer of the road. Thanks to this its anti-skid properties will be restored and improved while noise from passing cars will be reduced.
Before the sanding itself we will repair small cracks with special plastic concrete. It is stronger and harder than conventional concrete because it is mixed with resin silica sand and small aggregate which solidifies very quickly on the road said Jan Rydl spokesman for the RSD about the technology. The polished surface is finally strengthened with a special spray. The latter will increase the resistance of the road against peeling and crumbling which are mainly caused by the tires of heavy trucks.
At the same time RSD also completely seals the longitudinal and transverse joints so that water does not flow into the road structure. And we will make full use of the time during the repair and will also replace the guardrails restore the horizontal traffic markings and modernize the telematics. In order to complicate traffic as little as possible we will maintain traffic on the Prague ring road in both directions in two narrowed lanes.
