After the upgrade of the line on the section between Maribor and Sentilj was completed last year, the next step is to renovate the lobby, ticket offices and platform in front of the Maribor railway station. The work, which began at the beginning of August, will be completed by the end of the year. The ticket offices will be temporarily relocated to the premises of the former newsagent's.The renovation includes the arrangement of the entrance part of the station building, the arrangement of the central lobby with ticket offices, card machines and a service area for employees. A new waiting room for passengers and toilets for employees in the immediate vicinity of the public toilets are planned. The arrangement of the plateau in front of the railway station includes the renovation of the southern outdoor area next to the main building, the arrangement of paving, the installation of new urban equipment and lighting and the planting of new trees. The cleaning of the facade stone on the front side of the facade and the renovation of the stairs on part of the main entrance to the railway station building are also planned. The renovation will take into account the cultural protection conditions and instructions of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia, which will contribute to the harmonious appearance and recognition of the Maribor railway station. The implementation of the construction works will to a certain extent affect the established operations of the Maribor railway station, but passenger traffic at the Maribor railway station will continue uninterrupted during the implementation of the works.
