Since the last quarter of 2025, San Martin, Arequipa, La Libertad and Ancash expanded their internet coverage through regional projects promoted by the MTC.More than 1,600 towns in the San Martin, Arequipa, La Libertad and Ancash regions expanded their internet access with the launch of regional broadband projects since the last quarter of 2025, reported the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC).
These projects, promoted by the National Telecommunications Program (Pronatel), contribute to closing the connectivity gap through the deployment of fiber optic infrastructure that allows expanding coverage and access to telecommunications services.
The execution of regional broadband projects are part of the various actions of the State to expand connectivity and generate more opportunities for the population, highlighted Minister Aldo Prieto Barrera.
Thanks to this infrastructure, more than 2,500 public institutions, including health establishments, police stations and schools, today have connectivity in more than 380 districts of the four benefited regions. To achieve this, more than 7,000 kilometers of fiber optics were deployed, through a high-speed, high-capacity network.
The connectivity provided by these projects facilitates access to tele-education, tele-health and digital government services, for the benefit of more than 800 thousand citizens. In this way, the MTC continues to strengthen the countrys competitiveness and bring essential services closer to the population.
