📋 Tender Overview
Infrastructure will allow high-speed Internet to be brought to 545 public institutions and benefit more than 115 thousand citizens in the region. The Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC), through the National Telecommunications Program (Pronatel), put into operation the transport network of the Regional Broadband Project for the Pasco region, after signing the Commissioning Conformity Act that certifies compliance with the technical and quality standards established in the contract.
The transport network constitutes the high-capacity backbone that interconnects the different networks and main nodes, allowing the efficient transfer of large volumes of data between different points. This infrastructure is essential for the comprehensive operation of the broadband project in the region.
In parallel, the access network is being completed, which is the infrastructure that directly connects the end user - schools, health centers and police stations - with the service provider. Once this stage is completed, the regional project will be able to begin operations and provide effective connectivity to the beneficiary institutions.
The Minister of Transportation and Communications, Aldo Prieto Barrera, highlighted that this advance represents a decisive step to accelerate the closing of the digital divide in the Pasco region and guarantee that more Peruvians, especially in rural and remote areas, access quality telecommunications services.
The validated infrastructure includes 1,220 kilometers of fiber optics deployed, 26 distribution nodes, 13 connection nodes, 2 aggregation nodes, a Network Operation Center (NOC) and 2 maintenance centers and is now in the provisional operation stage, progressively integrating with the access network, with its full integration and commissioning planned for the second quarter of 2026.
When the access network comes into operation and joins the transportation network, the project will benefit more than 115 thousand inhabitants in the 264 beneficiary localities, and will allow high-speed Internet and intranet to be brought to 545 public institutions: 376 schools, 155 health establishments and 14 police stations. Likewise, it contemplates the implementation of 40 Digital Access Centers (CAD) and 236 places with free Wi-Fi.
For us, closing the digital divide means that a student can access better educational content, that a health center has real-time information and that more Peruvians can connect to the world. We are working so that this connectivity translates into development and a better quality of life for the population of Pasco, declared Minister Aldo Prieto.
With this advance, the MTC reaffirms its commitment to promoting telecommunications infrastructure that promotes digital inclusion and generates greater opportunities for educational, health, productive and social development in the regions of the country.
