πŸ“‹ Tender Overview

BAGUIO CITY (PIA) -- The Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) highlights the importance of cyber resilience especially in upholding public trust in government. Undersecretary Jose Torres Jr, PTFoMS Executive Director, said that vigilance, coordination, and professionalism ensure trusted public communication. He emphasized that government communicators must be ready in utilizing technology--including artificial intelligence--in coordinating and sharing information with agencies, and responsive to the needs of the people. Torres said that cyber resilience is a shared responsibility of all government agencies. Kailangan po natin talaga na maproteksyunan yung information integrity natin, at the same time, yung sharing ng information. Maraming nagru-rule sa ating world na kasinungalingan, so we have to fight back because we believe na yung ginagawa natin, para sa katotohanan, he said. Despite all the preparations, cyber threats and risks continue to evolve alongside digital communication. Cyber threats include phishing and social engineering exploiting public-facing services, state-sponsored and politically motivated cyber activities, and supply chain and third-party service provider vulnerabilities. Cyber risks also include unauthorized access to personal data protected under the Data Privacy Act of 2012, loss of public trust and credibility in government institutions, and operational paralysis of local government units and national agencies. Torres said that enhancing technical and operational capabilities is needed, including regular vulnerability scanning and system patching, data backup, encryption, and access controls, and securing cloud adoption aligned with the Department of Information and Communications Technology standards. Torres also said that cybersecurity is a core element of effective government communication. The PTFoMS chief said that resilience requires policy, technology, and people. He added that trust in government depends on secure digital services, and proactive investment reduces long-term risks. Torres talked about cybersecurity during a forum for government communicators and media practitioners at the PIA-CAR office in Baguio City on Dec. 19, 2025. (DEG-PIA CAR)
