The Directorate of Innovation and Technology Transfer (DITT) of the UNI promotes the visibility of UMA TECHNOLOGY S.A.C., a startup incubated in StartUp UNI that proposes a digital solution for textile traceability and compliance with international regulations, TRAZA SaaS DPP. The project articulates engineering, sustainability and artificial intelligence to strengthen the competitiveness of the Peruvian clothing sector in global markets.
The textile industry faces one of its biggest environmental crises, being responsible for approximately 10% of global carbon emissions and ranking second among the most polluting sectors on the planet. In this context, Perus clothing sector--which represents about 1.2% of GDP and generates more than 395,000 direct jobs--faces the risk of exclusion from key markets such as the United States and the European Union due to the lack of traceability and transparency in its supply chains.
Given this scenario, TRAZA SaaS DPP (Digital Product Passport) emerges as a technological solution developed to respond to new international regulatory requirements, such as the ESPR Regulation of the European Union and the Fashion Act of the United States. The platform allows the creation of a digital product passport through global standards such as GS1 Digital Link, integrating technologies such as blockchain (Internet Computer Protocol) to guarantee the traceability, authenticity and sustainability of each garment.
The project, incubated at StartUp UNI, is led by its CEO and founder, Agreda-Diaz Maribel, a graduate of the Faculty of Industrial and Systems Engineering at UNI, along with a team of six members. The startup stands out for its interdisciplinary approach, articulating engineering, technology, sustainability and now artificial intelligence, with the aim of democratizing access to regulatory compliance solutions for small and medium-sized companies in the textile sector.
Currently, TRAZA is in the process of growth and validation, working in alliance with KUSA COTTON PERU and its sustainable brand QAPARY to test its phygital service in a real environment. From StartUp UNI, the project receives support for the articulation between engineering disciplines, strengthening its progressive scaling and its ability to integrate with the industry, with a view to its launch scheduled for the second quarter of 2026.
UMA TECHNOLOGY S.A.C., obtained non-refundable financing in its application to STARTUP 11G, which has been executing and carrying out a white march with KUSA COTTON PERU.
