πŸ“‹ Tender Overview

* Between 2026 and 2028, the initiatives will add 1,420 MW of installed capacity, contributing to closing gaps in access to electrical energyThe Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) reported that Peru has 9 photovoltaic solar generation projects in development, planned to be executed between the years 2026 and 2028, which represent a total investment of US$ 1,268 million and a joint installed capacity of 1,420 megawatts (MW), which will be added to the National Interconnected Electric System (SEIN).

These projects will strengthen the supply of clean and reliable electrical energy, contributing to the diversification of the national energy matrix and the reduction of polluting emissions in our country.

Among the most important projects, the Illa Solar Power Plant stands out, located in the Arequipa region, currently in the construction stage, with an installed power of 396 MW and an investment of US$ 341.9 million, which will make it one of the largest solar power plants in the country.

In that region, projects such as Sunny (second stage), with 105 MW, and the San Jose Solar Power Plant are also advancing, which will contribute an additional 155.7 MW to the national electrical system.

In the Moquegua region, the MINEM portfolio includes large-scale initiatives in the study stage, such as Solimana (250 MW) and Hanaqpampa (140.8 MW), in addition to the Lupi project (181.2 MW) and the Intimpapa Expansion, the latter with a progress of more than 80% and a power of 51.7 MW. Likewise, relevant projects such as the CERW Wayra Solar Photovoltaic Plant in Ica are considered. (94.22 MW).

The Vice Minister of Electricity of the MINEM, Francisco Mendoza, highlighted the strategic importance of this type of generation, since it plays a fundamental role in the countrys energy transition process.

Peru has exceptional natural conditions, such as high levels of solar radiation in various regions, which allow us to develop competitive and sustainable solar projects, he stated.

Likewise, he highlighted that the promotion of generation with renewable resources promotes economic and regional development, because these investments not only increase the electricity generation capacity, but also generate employment, energize local economies and strengthen the countrys energy security, for the benefit of all Peruvians.

The MINEM thus reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting investments in non-conventional renewable energies, in line with the objectives of environmental sustainability, competitiveness and economic growth of Peru, contributing to closing gaps in access to energy for the least favored sectors of the country.
