The intervention at the Alfredo Rodriguez Ballon International Airport will strengthen and expand the operational capacity of the terminal in the face of growing demand, which already exceeds 2 million passengers per year.
This improvement will not only optimize user service and the efficiency of airport operations, but will also contribute to providing a safer, more orderly service in accordance with the standards required for an airport of regional and tourist importance, said Minister Aldo Prieto.
During the meeting it was also explained that flight suspensions due to weather reasons are due to low visibility caused by fog, which prevents pilots from guaranteeing a safe landing. Likewise, it was specified that the use of the La Joya airport as an alternate terminal is not viable, because it is not for civil use and is not within the scope of the jurisdiction of the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC) for commercial flights.
