Provias Nacional will approve the 741-meter bridge at the end of February. Meanwhile, at the beginning of the month the company in charge of repairing the current infrastructure will be defined.The Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC), through the Provias Nacional executing unit, announced that at the end of February the approval of the new definitive San Francisco bridge will be granted, a strategic infrastructure 741 meters long, which connects the citizens of the districts of San Francisco and Kimbiri, in the regions of Ayacucho and Cusco.
This was reported by the authorities of the sector, during a meeting led by the Minister of Transportation and Communications, Aldo Prieto, who received a visit from Congressman Raul Huaman. The work is part of the national road network, on route PE-28B, and includes an investment of more than S/500 million.
In addition, the MTC indicated that the repair work on the current San Francisco bridge will begin once the approval of the corresponding public tender is granted, scheduled for the first week of February.
This intervention will allow the functionality and road safety of the current 237.5-meter-long bridge, which is located over the waters of the Apurimac River, to be recovered, thus guaranteeing the safe and continuous transitability of citizens, said Minister Prieto Barrera.
Likewise, the MTC reported that two technical files are being prepared corresponding to sections of the Quinua - San Francisco national highway. The first includes 24 kilometers between the towns of Chalhuamayo and San Francisco, while the second corresponds to a 12-kilometer variant in the Tutumbaro sector. These studies are expected to conclude in April and August of this year, respectively.
Finally, the sector announced that more than S/19 million has been granted to the Regional Government of Ayacucho for the periodic maintenance of departmental roads, including sections of the Vraem road ring, in sectors that cover routes AY-101 and AY-127. In this framework, the signing of an agreement with Provias Descentralizado is expected.
In this way, the MTC ratified its commitment to the completion of studies and the progressive execution of projects, prioritizing sustainable technical solutions, compliance with environmental regulations and the optimization of public resources.
