π Tender Overview
A patient, an alpine ski instructor in Sheregesh, actively involved in freeride and alpine skiing, contacted the Prokopyevsky Clinical Orthopedic and Surgical Center as planned.Diagnosis: damage to the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee and both menisci.
This case is non-standard from a medical point of view. The standard approach for such injuries in patients not associated with professional sports often involves partial or complete resection of the menisci. However, for a ski instructor and freerider, preserving the menisci is a critical condition for returning to full professional and sports activities. The menisci perform a key shock-absorbing and stabilizing function, and their removal would inevitably lead to the early development of post-traumatic gonarthrosis and the actual closure of the path to an active lifestyle.
Orthopedic traumatologist Nachyn Mongush decided to perform endoscopic surgery using the suture technique of both menisci using the all inside method using specialized Fast Fix 360 and TRUESPA implants. This approach made it possible not to remove damaged structures, but to restore their integrity, preserving the anatomy and biomechanics of the knee joint. This is fundamentally important for the patient, whose profession and lifestyle are inextricably linked with high physical activity.
All necessary efforts were made so that the patient could subsequently return to an active lifestyle and her favorite activity. At the moment, the patient has been discharged from the hospital in satisfactory condition. The next stage is comprehensive rehabilitation aimed at restoring range of motion, strengthening the muscular-ligamentous system and a gradual return to sports activities.
