Around 45 individual projects with an annual financial volume of around five million euros are currently being implemented under the umbrella of the Forest Strategy 2025. Various digitization projects, such as the External: Forest portal BW (opens in new window) as a digital forestry office and the integrated mobile app WaldExpert are intended to simplify and facilitate exchanges with the authorities for private and municipal forest owners. In the PRIMA Forest project, forest damage is recorded using satellite and drone data and analyzed using AI, and in the DIANA project, new innovative approaches to creating community forests are being developed. In 2027/2028, the topic of private forests is to be placed at the center of the Forest Strategy 2050. The proven and important exchange formats of the Forest Strategy 2050 include the Forest Future Forum, which takes place every two years, and the Regional Forest Talks. As the heart of the forest strategy, they offer a platform for participation, information and exchange. In the past four years, over 1,200 people from the areas of forestry and timber management, forest ownership, nature conservation, hunting and tourism have been reached at 20 regional forest discussions.
