(June 22, 2026) Munich - Bavarias children will also benefit from the EU school program in the next school year. Children should learn healthy eating using all their senses. A total of around 10.5 million euros is available for the deliveries of fruit, vegetables and milk for the successful nutrition education program. The EU is financing 5.2 million euros of this, and the Free State is contributing a further 5.34 million euros. Registration for kindergartens, houses for children as well as primary and special schools for participation in the 2026/2027 school year begins now.
Children learn healthy nutrition not just from books, but through their own experience. If they regularly get to know fruit, vegetables and milk, try them and enjoy them together, they develop a feel for good food. Thats exactly why the EU school program is an important component of our Bavarian nutrition strategy, said Nutrition Minister Michaela Kaniber at the start of registration.
The EU school program aims to introduce children to a balanced diet. The institutions have the opportunity to specifically integrate fruit, vegetables and milk into their educational nutrition education.
In Bavaria, all kindergartens and houses for children as well as primary and special schools with grades 1 to 4 can take part again in the coming school year. Interested daycare centers and schools should therefore contact the approved suppliers as soon as possible. The institutions must register online between June 22nd and September 30th, 2026 for participation in the 2026/2027 school year.
With the EU school program, children discover new tastes, learn about the diversity of our foods and develop joy in a balanced diet. Such experiences with all the senses are a valuable experience and remain in the childrens memories for a long time. This is nutritional education in action, continued Minister Kaniber.
The EU school program in Bavaria will be implemented in two action periods in the 2026/2027 school year. The first period runs from November 30, 2026 to February 26, 2027, the second from April 5 to July 2 of next year. During these promotional periods, institutions and suppliers can flexibly agree on the scope and frequency of deliveries and thus integrate them individually into their educational concepts. For example, weekly or daily deliveries within a project week are possible. The delivery quantities will be announced to the facilities and suppliers at the beginning of November. They are based on the number of participating institutions and children.
