Education Minister Anna Stolz wishes almost 35,000 students successful exams
The written final exams at secondary schools in the Free State begin on Tuesday. Education Minister Anna Stolz takes this as an opportunity to point out the important role of secondary schools for the Bavarian school system: The Bavarian secondary school is a central pillar in the Bavarian school system. It offers young people a wide range of individual educational paths. Secondary school education offers both an optimal basis for successful, qualified vocational training as well as for further school education up to general university entrance qualification. With an excellent combination of theory and practice, targeted promotion of special talents and strengths - for example in the areas of foreign languages, MINT, Sport, music and culture - the secondary school offers young people perfect starting opportunities for the future. The entire school families at our secondary schools support the students in their personal development, to optimally develop their potential and to shape their own path with confidence.
The minister thanks all teachers and school management for their professional preparation, pedagogical support and close support of the examinees. Addressing the students, she says: The secondary school diploma is a sign of quality! It is a valuable qualification that you can be proud of. Trust in your abilities and go your way with confidence. Ill keep my fingers crossed for you for your exams and wish you lots of success!
The Bavarian secondary school leaving certificate
This years written final exams at secondary schools will take place from June 23rd to July 3rd, 2026. All Bavarian secondary school students take exams in the subjects German, English and mathematics as well as - depending on the focus of the chosen field of training - in another subject such as physics, business administration/accounting, French, art, crafts, nutrition and health or social work. At some secondary schools, students can also take the exam in the profile subjects of music, Spanish, Czech or sports. The profile subject social studies can be taken at evening secondary schools.
As part of the promotion for the best, talented students have the opportunity to take a final exam in another profile subject. Unique in the world: The international language diploma Diplome dEtudes en Langue Francaise (DELF) is integrated into the Bavarian secondary school leaving examination in French. This enables secondary school students to obtain the globally recognized DELF diploma at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). It enriches the application portfolio and is valid for a lifetime.
The secondary school always has its finger on the pulse. Once again, all public and state-recognized secondary schools in Bavaria were able to offer a central, Bavaria-wide, voluntary final examination in the subject of information technology. It took place in the spring and was carried out at 140 secondary schools. The examinees demonstrated important skills, including: in the areas of database systems and networks as well as in modeling and coding algorithms. This means that secondary school students are optimally prepared for the requirements of future-oriented training.
The central speaking skills tests in English, French, Spanish and Czech took place before the start of the written test period. The practical exams in the subjects of art, crafts, nutrition and health, music and sports were also completed before the written exams.
