This year, the Free State of Bavaria supports 66 cities, markets and municipalities in the Upper Palatinate with over 13 million euros from the Bavarian urban development program. Bavarias Minister Christian Bernreiter: With the urban development funding, we continue to support the municipalities as a strong partner. In contrast to most other federal states, we have been putting up a separate state program of urban development in Bavaria for more than five decades. This has proven to be very successful. Municipalities in rural areas.
With around 73 million euros, the state program of urban development is also well endowed in 2025. With the funding, we help the municipalities to invest in the preservation and further development of their city and town centers, said Bernreiter.
It is particularly important to me to support cities and municipalities with a tense budgetary situation. You also have to implement urban planning projects in order to remain worth living for the citizens. We have therefore created many opportunities to reduce the municipal compulsory proportion to a minimum. The Bavarian Minister of Construction. Sustainable urban development must not be a luxury good.
Resource -saving construction through the renovation and further use of existing buildings is again a funding focus of urban development funding this year. Funded projects that serve to save energy and greenhouse gases help to achieve the Bavarian climate protection goals.
Bavarian municipalities also invest in urban development with urban development. To ensure adequate care in the town center, to fill empty buildings with new life and close construction gaps, is not possible overnight, explains Building Minister Bernreiter. A long -term urban development strategy is particularly important. With the urban development funding, we therefore not only support the municipalities with money, but also with the planning tool.
The measures planned in 2025 to revive our Bavarian city centers and town centers are diverse.
The municipality of Bernhardswald renovates an empty practice and residential building with the funding and converts it into a community center. In the future, clubs and the municipal administration will be housed in attractive rooms. A cafe should also move in.
The municipality of Luhe-Wildenau also modernizes an empty building to accommodate rooms for clubs and theater groups as well as a meeting point for seniors and young people. The inner courtyard of the property on the market square is green - this is good for the microclimate.
The Laaber market is redesigning the Muhlwiese fairground with the support of urban development. Parking spaces for electric cars are created with charging options and motorhome parking spaces, trees planted and the footpaths are expanded barrier-free. In the future, seat levels and play equipment will invite you to linger on the banks of the Black Laber.
The municipality of Pentling renovates the village square for the citizens in the Matting district. Funds of urban development are used to replace the existing asphalt covering with a infiltrate granite plaster. Property plantings and benches increase the attractiveness of the square. The users of the nearby Danube Cycle Path will be able to look forward to an inviting rest stop at the village square in the future.
