📋 Tender Overview
June 22, 2026
(June 22, 2026) Munich - Forestry Minister Michaela Kaniber today gave the starting signal for the Bavarian Timber Construction Prize 2027. Architects and specialist planners can now submit their projects for the prestigious award. We are looking for outstanding wooden structures from all over Bavaria that exemplify how innovative, sustainable and diverse construction can be done using the local building material wood. The application deadline ends on July 31, 2026. Wood is much more than a building material - it is a real all-rounder from our local forests. Anyone who builds with wood combines climate protection, value creation and building culture in a unique way. The Bavarian Wood Construction Prize makes this potential visible and provides future-oriented impulses for wood construction. We are looking forward to numerous great construction projects that show what is possible with wood, said Forestry Minister Michaela Kaniber at the start of the Tender.
The submitted structures must be predominantly made of wood, have a technically convincing plan and execution, and must have been completed and put into operation between November 19, 2022 and July 31, 2026. The range of possible submissions is wide: it ranges from new buildings to densification and modernization of individual buildings and groups of buildings to outstanding engineering structures and agricultural buildings.
The Bavaria Timber Construction Prize is endowed with prize money totaling EUR30,000 and will be awarded for the 12th time in 2027. As part of the Bavaria Timber Construction Initiative, the Bavarian State Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Tourism is awarding the prize together with proHolz Bayern. The Bavarian Chamber of Architects and the Bavarian Chamber of Engineers-Construction support the competition, which takes place every four years. Minister of State Michaela Kaniber will formally announce the winners in spring 2027.
