Background:
In January 2021 the federal government increased targeted support for self-employed people during the corona pandemic with the Neustarthilfe aid program in order to help this important and diverse group active in economic life through the pandemic. By June 2022 around 2.8 billion euros had been paid out in 590000 approved applications and numerous livelihoods were secured.
