π Tender Overview
On July 30, 2026, the Defense Directorate published visuals on social networks, part of the public debate initiated by the European Central Bank on the design of future euro banknotes. Given the wave of reactions generated by this publication, Management wishes to clarify its position. The Directorate of Defense recognizes the concerns expressed by certain citizens and regrets that the visuals may have caused confusion and offended sensitivities, and apologizes for this. She reiterates her commitment to responsible communication. This publication followed a trend on social networks, in which other institutional actors in European defense had also taken part. The publication was not validated by the Minister of Defense. The European Union, like Luxembourg, embodies fundamental values of peace, democracy, human rights and freedom. The military means presented, far from opposing it, are designed to guarantee its protection. Through these visuals, Luxembourg Defense intended to highlight its operational capabilities, developed in Europe and deployed in the service of the security and defense of the Euro-Atlantic space. Defense necessarily relies on adapted military means, some of which have been illustrated in these publications. The Defense Directorate would like to emphasize that it is in no way a question of promoting a militaristic vision, but rather of raising awareness, in formats adapted to social networks, of the concrete challenges of European defense.
