📋 Tender Overview
The Port of Rio de Janeiro had the best result in the Southeast region and was featured in the first half of 2025. According to the semiannual balance of the National Waterway Transport Agency (Antaq), the carioca terminal moved 8.4 million tons in the period, an increase of 24.9% over last year.
Southeast regionalization
The growth was pulled by cargo such as wheat, which advanced 61.9%, as well as iron and steel (+50.4%), other loads (+40%) and containers (+13%). The numbers reflect the diversification of the cargo matrix and the importance of the terminal specialized in the receipt and distribution of bulk wheat.
In Sao Paulo, the port of Santos registered a slight retraction of 1.1% in the semester, but broke record of movement in July, reinforcing its position as the largest port complex in Latin America. The port of Sao Sebastiao dropped 9.9%, and Vitoria (ES), 17.8%.
The growth of movement shows the protagonism of public ports and the commitment of the federal government to the strengthening of port infrastructure, attracting investments and ensuring more logistics efficiency to meet the productive sector and generate opportunities for Brazilians, said the minister of ports and airports, Silvio Costa Filho
Even with different variations between the southeastern ports, the semester highlights the strength of the region in national logistics. The significant performance of Rio de Janeiro, coupled with the solidity of Santos and the role of Vitoria and Sao Sebastiao, confirms the protagonism of the Sedestine axis in cargo movement and the countrys supply.
