Pope Leo Xiv Tender

📄 Tender ID: 532103616 📅 Published: 28 Apr 2026

📋 Tender Overview

The Malabo stadium was not only the scene of a massive mass; It became the epicenter of a visual and spiritual dialogue that has gone around the world. In a gesture that fuses ancient tradition with the leadership of the modern Church, Pope Leo XIV was visibly captivated by the imposing image of Our Lady of Bisila, Patroness of Equatorial Guinea.
Under the equatorial atmosphere, the light highlighted a contrast loaded with symbolism: the highest authority of the Catholic Church in front of a Virgin with bubi roots, who carries the Child Jesus on her back. This purely Equatoguinean gesture of love and protection has resonated on the screens of millions of people, positioning the country as a beacon of faith and stability in the 21st century.
The story of Virgin Bisila is a story of resistance, adaptation and hope. Long before its official recognition by the Church, the essence of Bisila was already beating in the soul of the Bubi people.
The Protector of Bioko: In ancient times, an epidemic hit the island. Tradition tells that a young woman had an encounter with a woman of extraordinary beauty who was holding a child. His presence brought healing and peace.
The Meeting of Cultures: With the arrival of Christianity, the missionaries did not erase this figure, but rather recognized in it the essence of the Virgin Mary.
Official Recognition: It was not until 1986 when the Church confirmed what the people already knew: Bisila is Maria, walking with her children from Equatorial Guinea.
The image of the Virgin with the Child on her back is, perhaps, one of the most human and close Marian representations today. It represents the mother who works, who walks and who protects, an image that Pope Leo XIV contemplated with deep devotion.
To contemplate this image is to encounter a living, close Virgin... a Mother who carries, cares and loves.
Thanks to the rise of social networks, this meeting did not remain within the walls of the stadium. Digital platforms have viralized the images of the pontiff in front of the Virgin of Pico Basile, turning Equatorial Guinea into a global reference of hope.
In a world thirsty for messages of unity, the Malabo scene reminds us that faith has no borders and that culture, far from dividing, enriches the mystery of the divine. Equatorial Guinea has proven to be a meeting point where ancestral tradition and global spirituality are embraced under the mantle of a mother who never abandons her people.
