📋 Tender Overview
Trains between Opole Central and Opole West run on two tracks. The investment of PKP Polish Railway Lines S.A. has improved regional, inter-provincial and international communication. The project is carried out as part of the modernisation of the K?dzierzyn-Ko?le - Opole Zachodnie line. The value of the project co-financed by the EU CEF Connecting Europe Facility is PLN 800 million.
Trains between Opole Main and Western are already running on new tracks. The investment is conducive to the development of regional and long-distance rail travel. Every day, more than 100 trains run on the important route, connecting Lower Silesia and the Opole region, as well as the east and west of the country.
The reconstruction of the second track, as in the case of the first line, also included the overhead contact line and traffic control equipment, as well as three bridges and four viaducts. The facilities are located on the banks of the M?ynówka, the Oder River, the Relief Canal and the following streets: Powsta?ców ?l?skich, Krapkowicka, Suchodo?, Prószkowska.
Thanks to the completed investment, railway workers run trains at the Opole station from a new signal box, which replaced the old facility. Dispatchers use modern computer systems and devices.
The reconstruction of the viaducts improved rail travel and traffic
The reconstruction of four railway viaducts between Opole Main and Western has significantly increased the capacity of the railway. The works carried out by PLK S.A. will also improve road communication. Such an effect after the completion of road works will be achieved, m.in, by the reconstruction of the viaduct on Powsta?ców ?l?skich Street. Drivers will gain a safer and more efficient passage – in place of a one-way, narrow street, there will be a two-lane road with a sidewalk.
The reconstruction of the viaduct on Krapkowicka Street is being carried out by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. together with the City. The railway has gained an efficient and very important link in the railway line, and in the city – after the completion of the works by the local government – road transport will be significantly improved, m.in. buses will be able to run.
There are still road works to be done on the Opole Main – Western route. This scope of work depends most on weather conditions. The task is scheduled to be completed in March 2024.
Effects of the investment
After the investment on the K?dzierzyn Ko?le - Opole Zachodni section, the benefits from the development of ecological rail transport are assumed on a regional, national and European scale. It is the development of safe train travel and the increase in the competitiveness of railways. Road transport in the Opole area and in the region will also improve. The works will reduce the impact of the railway on the environment. The installation of new railway traffic control equipment has increased the level of safety in rail traffic.
The project: "Works on the E30 railway line on the K?dzierzyn-Ko?le – Opole Zachodnie section" is being implemented for PLN 815.7 million with the participation of EU funds CEF (Connecting Europe Facility) in the amount of nearly PLN 400 million.
