PKP Polish Railway Lines S.A. signed a contract for the implementation of the task entitled "Construction of the Bydgoszcz Fordon passing lane on the railway line No. 209 Kowalewo Pomorskie β Bydgoszcz East".
The Bydgoszcz Fordon stop will change for travelers. The current stop will once again become a railway station. The change took place in 1997 due to the suspension of freight train traffic and the closure of the cargo hold. Thanks to the implementation of the works, the capacity on the route towards Che?m?a will be increased, on which more trains will be able to leave. Platform No. 1 will be rebuilt and a new platform No. 2 will be built. The works will ensure the possibility of receiving electrical trains at the station and reloading freight trains. The modernisation of the track system and the overhead contact line will once again make it possible for diesel and electric trains to pass each other at the station. In the district, in the vicinity of the viaduct at Fordo?ska Street, a new stop with two platforms will be built with the working name Bydgoszcz Stary Fordon, which will increase access to the railway in this part of the city.
New railway traffic control equipment will be installed, which will ensure efficient and safe train driving on the Unis?aw Pomorski β Bydgoszcz Fordon and Bydgoszcz Fordon β Bydgoszcz East routes. The level of safety at two rail-road crossings will be increased: on the provincial road 551 in D?browa Che?mi?ska and on the national road No. 80 in Strzy?awa. New crossing devices will be installed at both crossings β toll gates and signals. The pedestrian crossing in the vicinity of the Bydgoszcz Fordon station will also be modernised, where the toll gates will be built. The railway viaduct at the Bydgoszcz Fordon station will be renovated.
The works will be carried out by GΓ³r-Tor Sp. z o.o. for the net amount of approx. PLN 40 million from the funds from the National Reconstruction Plan for the project entitled "Elimination of bottlenecks and increase of the capacity of railway lines β stage II". The task is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2026.
