πŸ“‹ Tender Overview

From November 7 we are introducing new ID cards with the second biometric feature. From the next day November 8 Poles will be able to submit applications for their publication - said Deputy Minister Pawe Szefernaker on Tuesday September 28 this year at a press conference in Otwock. The event was attended by Janusz Cieszyski secretary of state for digitization in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister and Jarosaw Margielski president of Otwock.During the conference Pawe Szefernaker secretary of state at the Ministry of Interior and Administration and Janusz Cieszyski secretary of state for digitization at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister announced that from November 7 this year. a second biometric feature will be introduced into the ID cards.Deputy Minister Pawe Szefernaker presented the details of the new solutions. - ID cards will be issued for 10 years to people over the age of 12 as they will provide fingerprints. For people up to 12 years of age the ID will be issued for 5 years without taking fingerprints - he said. The secretary of state at the Ministry of Interior and Administration also informed that fingerprints will be included in the electronic layer of the ID card and in the Register of Identity Cards. Upon receipt of the ID by the citizen or if the citizen does not collect the ID within 90 days from the date of issue i.e. the date of personalization included in the ID card they will be automatically removed from the register.Janusz Cieszyski secretary of state for digitization at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister emphasized that Poles do not have to worry about the security of their data. - I assure you that the equipment that will be used guarantees the security of the ICT system in which the fingerprints taken will be temporarily collected and the security of the ICT system used to personalize ID cards - he stressed. All fingerprint scanners were delivered to municipalities - 7450 scanners to 2479 locations. In the first half of October the delivery of 335 official mobile stations will begin. These devices will make it possible to give fingerprints by people who will not be able to visit the commune office in person.Changes in ID cardsAmendments to the Act on identity cards result from the adaptation of the provisions of the Act of 6 August 2010 on identity cards to Regulation EU 20191157 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 June 2019.The Act of April 14 2021 amending the Act on identity cards and certain other acts introduces new elements to the graphic and electronic layers of identity cards. The most important of them are the second biometric feature fingerprint mapping the signature of the owner of the ID card and the need to submit an application for ID in person at the office for people over 12 years of age.For security reasons purchase of new fingerprint scanners the date of entry into force of the provisions of the Act on the second biometric feature was postponed to November 7 this year. From July 27 it is not possible to apply for a new identity document online. This can only be done in the office except for situations where - due to e.g. illness or disability - we are not able to do it.After introducing new documents - online application for ID will only be possible for a document for children up to 12 years of age. They will not be fingerprinted.Poland is not the only country in the European Union that has extended the deadline for implementing new ID cards. Belgium Bulgaria Estonia Latvia Romania Slovakia and Slovenia - also received approval from the European Commission to extend the deadline for introducing new documents.
