Technologies in the field of Intelligent Transport Systems ITS are successively implemented on national roads. The concept of ITS is very broad and covers a number of activities related to the use of modern information technologies including in traffic management or monitoring road conditions. The priority undertaking of GDDKiA in the field of ITS is currently the implementation of the project entitled National Road Traffic Management System on the TEN-T network - stage I KSZRD.Key projectThe total length of the road network covered by this project is approx. 1100 km which is approx. 28 percent. length of the TEN-T core network in Poland. The investment is co-financed by the European Union under the Connecting Europe Facility CEF. Co-financing is 85 percent. eligible costs. It is currently the largest ITS project of this type implemented in Europe.KSZRD will be operated by the National Traffic Management Center in Warsaw in close cooperation with the Regional Traffic Management Centers in Strykw near d Widawa near Wrocaw Manor near Gdask and Koczyce near Katowice. In connection with the implementation of the project the heart of the National Road Traffic Management System i.e. the central system is created. It is an ICT solution that will ultimately support all ITS solutions on national roads.An intense year is behind usIn 2021 we completed the process of concluding contracts for the implementation of individual elements of the KSZRD project and thus we entered the phase of its implementation and implementation. Last year we signed contracts for the implementation of Regional Implementation Projects for Gdask and Olsztyn contract signed on June 18 2021 Katowice contract signed on June 28 2021 and d contract written off on August 31 2021 .Last year we also started field work related to the creation of power connections for individual distributed modules ITS devices such as cameras monitoring vehicle traffic weather stations or variable message signs of the Central Implementation Project CPW ensuring their connection with the central system. This applies to the connection of the electrical network the arrangement of the optical fiber and the installation of concentration cabinets in which the devices will be placed. The assembly of gantries with variable message signs that will inform drivers about the traffic situation has also started.We also prepared documentation on interfaces for individual types of distributed modules. In the future it will serve as a standard for all devices installed on roads managed by GDDKiA. On October 13 last year as part of the work on CPW the concept documentation for the entire system was also received. This will allow for further design and implementation of its individual elements.Throughout the last year works related to the adaptation of the building at ul. Paska in Warsaw to the needs of the National Traffic Management Center. It also houses the Tunnel Management Center on the S2 expressway.On November 2 last year work on the software for the KSZRD central system began. Currently the graphic user interface is being prepared and the first system functionalities are being implemented.Ambitious plansWork on the implementation of the KSZRD this year promises to be as intense as last year. It is planned to complete by the CPW contractor the works carried out in the part of the building at ul. Paska in Warsaw which is dedicated to the National Traffic Management Center. Field works related to the connection of concentration stations to the electricity and fiber-optic networks will be continued. The assembly of individual ITS devices will also begin.In 2022 further works related to the development of the central system software will continue. The process of integrating the central system with the systems of individual Regional Implementation Projects will also begin. This year the KSZRD information and promotion campaign will also be launched as well as activities related to the implementation and launch of the presentation portal.New quality of road useThe National Traffic Management System will be equipped with the most modern devices acquiring information e.g. about the speed number and type of vehicles traveling on a given road. It will also show data on travel times on individual routes information on the condition of the surface the occupancy of parking spaces as well as meteorological data.The system will enable real-time monitoring of all highways and expressways in Poland and will enable the continuous transmission of important messages to drivers in a uniform manner.
