📋 Tender Overview
Deputy Minister of Digital Affairs Dariusz Standerski met with EURO HPC Director Anders Jensen in Pozna?. The meeting was devoted to the implementation of strategic plans to build the largest quantum computer based on ion traps in Europe. During the meeting, the issues of expanding the local quantum ecosystem in the field of teaching and building quantum competences in Poland were discussed, as well as the milestones of the project. The construction of the computer will begin next week, and it will be put into service in mid-2025. It will be the first device of this type in Europe as part of the HPC Joint Undertaking.
The construction of a quantum computer in Pozna? is a milestone towards technological innovations thathave the potential to revolutionize many fields.
"Today we connect the present with the future. Next week, the construction of a quantum computer will start in Pozna?. The next step is the national quantum policy, in which we will enter the directions of further investments. It is also support in building a quantum ecosystem – from the development of competences to the expansion of applications of breakthrough technologies," said Deputy Minister Dariusz Standerski.
A quantum computer can lead to breakthroughs in many fields such as medicine, chemistry, research and drug production.
"A quantum computer works faster, it needs less energy, so what we need weeks or months for today, a quantum computer will calculate in minutes or hours. This is an acceleration in research work, in the most difficult tasks for us today. It will not only allow us to make a breakthrough in cryptography, medicine, chemistry, but also allow us to find new areas of application," concluded the Deputy Minister.
