With the aim to identify and mark building structures as points in the digitization of maps the Philippine Statistics Authority PSA Region 1 is targeting to complete the geotagging of building structures on June 2019. The geotagging activity is also aimed to attribute these buildings with pertinent geographical information to be utilized in various statistical undertakings of PSA.Further this activity which started on March 18 2019 will be covering all the remaining Enumeration Areas EAs or villages that were not yet finished during the 2017 and 2018 field operations.The results of this will be used to develop digital building footprints applying spatial analytics and intelligent visualization of info using dynamic digitized maps said officer-in-charge Atty. Shiela O. de Guzman of PSA Region 1.According to PSA for the 2020 Census of Population and Housing CPH enumerators will be using updated digital maps which are embedded in the census workflow as they operate.The maps and geotagging building points are critical for the CPH as this will serve as references for data collection and interview De Guzman added.Thus other geotagging activities including updating of maps and boundaries and EA delineation need to be completed from June until October 2019.In Region 1 there are about 2335 EAs to be covered which will be conducted by 10 map data screeners MDSs and about 109 map data collectors MDCs hired in the entire region simultaneous doing the geotagging.Moreover the said MDSs and MDCs were trained and familiarized of the procedures and instructions before they were assigned to their respective areas.To ensure that the information is secured the geotagging shall be covered by the confidentiality information clause under Section 26 or Republic Act 10625 or data collected shall be treated privately and is considered as privileged information.
