This province will soon have more roads and bridges to interconnect towns in the eastern and western sides of the Cagayan River said Representative Randolph S. Ting of the Third District of Cagayan.Ting said the construction of three major bridges in his district are now on-going to include the Tuguegarao-Solana Bridge with an approved budget of P4.7 billion.According to the lawmaker the four-lane bridge has a bypass road component which will link Tuguegarao City to Solana town and will likewise serve as an alternate route on the century old Buntun bridge.The bridge construction will take three years to be completed. It will decongest traffic along Buntun Bridge once it will be opened to the public Ting added.Tourism bridgesAside from the Tuguegarao-Solana Bridge Ting said the construction of the Cabasan and the Tawi bridges both in Penablanca town are already on-going.He said both bridges are part of the tourism convergence project in the province considering that the town is one of the tourist flagship destinations in the Cagayan Valley Region.The lawmaker said he will also propose for the funding and construction of the Warat-Afusing bridge in Amulung in order to connect the central and eastern parts of the province.There should be a bridge also that will connect Rizal and Sto. Nino towns so that the western Cagayan area will be served Ting added.Moreover the solon is also pushing for the development of two major road networks parallel to the Maharlika highway that will connect Penablanca town to Baggao up to Sta. Ana town the economic hub of the province.Tourism developmentWe have many tourism potentials in the province that we need to provide access and to promote so that tourists will be encouraged to visit our place Ting said.Ting added that aside from providing secondary national roads or alternate routes to decongest the main roads accessibility to the countryside is needed to provide farmers with good roads in transporting their produce to and from the markets.
