📋 Tender Overview
The National Amazonian University of Madre de Dios (UNAMAD) welcomed participants from the 2nd Young Socio-Environmental Leaders Program on a guided tour of the Scientific Collection of Ichthyology (CCI) laboratory.
This program is organized by the Association for the Conservation of the Amazon Basin (ACCA) and the Association of Organic Collectors of the Amazonian Nut of Peru (RONAP), which brings together chestnut and farming partners from the provinces of Tambopata and Tahuamanu in the Madre de Dios region. Participants were captivated by the vast collection of fish species present in the laboratory.
The tour was led by Lic. Miguel Angel Macedo Cordova, Curator and Specialist of the CCI - UNAMAD, who detailed the work carried out since 2018. During this period, the laboratory has collected and catalogued an average of a thousand batches of Amazonian fish, standing out for their richness and diversity.
In this way, UNAMAD contributes to the knowledge and conservation of Amazonian biodiversity, in addition to promoting the development of young leaders committed to the environment. This visit not only strengthened the ties between the university and local communities, but also inspired participants to continue working for the conservation of our invaluable aquatic fauna.
