Yesterday, the National Amazonian University of Madre de Dios (UNAMAD) held the inauguration of its renovated computer laboratories, presided over by Dr. Joab Maquera Ramirez, Rector of UNAMAD, marking the beginning of the modernization of the institutions technological infrastructure and the continued commitment to academic excellence.
The ceremony began with welcoming remarks by Dr. Luz Marina Almanza Huaman, Vice-Rector for Research, who stressed the importance of moving forward in line with current technological demands; then, Eng. Edwin Joel Holgado Canal, Head of the Information Technology Office, explained that the equipment renewal process was based on a prior technical evaluation that revealed an alarming technological obsolescence, identifying outdated devices, many of them more than ten years old. Given this situation, I seek to modernize the facilities with current technology.
It is important to note that the Office of Information Technology implemented a comprehensive renovation plan that included the acquisition of 190 state-of-the-art monitors and CPUs. These devices were distributed in the computer laboratories of the three Academic Faculties of UNAMAD, benefiting students from various professional careers.
In his speech, Dr. Joab Maquera Ramirez stressed the importance of technological renovation in the academic and administrative fields, to enhance performance and provide students and teachers with the necessary tools for their success; he also announced that new practice laboratories will be implemented for the careers of Agroindustrial Engineering, Forestry Engineering, and Veterinary Medicine.
The event included the ribbon cutting and champagne breaking presided over by UNAMAD authorities, who marked the official moment of the opening of the new computer laboratories; later, attendees had the opportunity to tour the facilities and observe the advanced technologies that have been implemented.
The ceremony ended with a toast by Eng. Yban Vilchez Navarro, director of the Professional School of Systems Engineering and Informatics, who expressed his gratitude and enthusiasm for this important advance.
It is worth mentioning that the event brought together prominent personalities from UNAMAD, including the director of the Academic Department of Systems Engineering and Informatics, Nelly Jaqueline Ulloa Gallardo, members of the academic and administrative staff. The occasion was a reflection of the progress and renewal that characterizes our university in the search to offer the best education to our students.
