The Villa swamp wetland, recognized as Ramsar site of international importance, is home to more than 210 species of birds and a fundamental natural refuge for the biodiversity of Lima. However, solid waste pollution, both household and construction, threatens its ecological balance and deteriorates its water channels, fundamental for the preservation of this ecosystem.
The contamination of the channels puts the survival of the wetland and the fauna that inhabits it, so with the I Participatory Cleaning Day we will not only eliminate waste, but also strengthens environmental awareness and citizen commitment for its conservation In the long term, said the technical director of Prohvilla, Arq. Viviana Panizo Hubner.
He also said that this activity promotes joint work with the citizens of the Special Regulation Zone of the Pantans of Villa (ZRE PV) and Lima, as well as with public and private institutions to achieve a positive and sustainable impact on this vital ecosystem For Lima and globally.
The cleaning day, which is part of the 2025 control plan of Prohvilla, will be held on Saturday, February 22, from 8 a.m. Having as the beginning of the wetland swamp wetland, located in Chorrillos.
