📋 Tender Overview
The National Superintendence of Control of Security Services, Weapons, Ammunition and Explosives for Civil Use (Sucamec) has been implementing the recommendations made by the Comptroller General of the Republic, which conducted an audit of the entity attached to the Ministry of the Interior (Mininter) and warned that the location of 70 firearms from seven private companies whose licenses were canceled between 2021 and 2022 is unknown.
"We are implementing those recommendations to our work plan to be able to optimize and give a forceful response to the citizens regarding the control and control of weapons," said the manager of Arms of Sucamec, Ronald Rejas, who said that his management has assumed with great concern the assets and liabilities of the previous administration.
The official also stressed that, thanks to the regulation of Legislative Decree No. 1213, Sucamec is already applying control, inspection and sanction actions to private security companies nationwide. He indicated that, prior to this rule, many companies took advantage of this legal vacuum to not comply with their obligations.
Rejas mentioned that the sanctions for companies that fail to comply with the rules range from fines from 10 UIT to 50 UIT. In addition, these private companies may face administrative penalties such as cancellation of their authorizations and seizure of firearms.
At another time, the manager of Sucamec urged the general public to assume the commitment to guard their firearms, and to comply with what the law mandates, which obliges them to comply with certain requirements and conditions for the possession of these elements that, he said, can be very dangerous in the hands of inexperienced or irresponsible people.
"We are in an awareness campaign, and already sharing the corresponding measures with the Ministry of Education. We are doing and strengthening it in different regions of the country, attending schools, through the campaign 'Sucamec a tu cole', "he said.
