πŸ“‹ Tender Overview

The National Report on the State of the Environment 2020-2024 presents the main environmental results of the country. The Ministry of the Environment (Minam) approved the National Report on the State of the Environment of Peru (INEA) 2020-2024, an instrument that presents the main advances and challenges of environmental management in the country and strengthens transparency, accountability and decision-making for sustainable development.

The document, approved by Ministerial Resolution No. D000168-2026-MINAM and published on the Minam institutional portal, compiles updated information on the state of the environment and the management of natural resources, becoming a strategic tool to guide public policies and keep citizens informed.

Among the main results, the report highlights that the surface of the national territory administered under protected natural areas (ANP) increased from 17.62% in 2020 to 17.90% in 2024, reaching more than 29.7 million protected hectares. In that period, the Nasca Dorsal National Reserve, the Illescas National Reserve and the Grau Tropical Sea National Reserve were created. Furthermore, the conservation status of the ANP reached 96.27%, reflecting the effectiveness of the protection and management actions of these spaces.

In terms of solid waste management, the INEA shows a significant increase in the recovery of municipal waste, which went from 59,002 tons in 2020 to 240,056 tons in 2024. This result reflects the strengthening of actions aimed at promoting the circular economy and improving the comprehensive management of solid waste in the country.

Regarding climate action, the report indicates that 902 organizations from the public and private sectors measured their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Of them, 243 verified their emissions and 77 managed to reduce them, evidencing a greater commitment to climate change mitigation and the incorporation of sustainable practices in their processes.

Likewise, the application of eco-efficiency measures in public entities made it possible to generate savings of more than S/ 87 million between 2023 and 2024, avoid the emission of more than 35 million kilograms of carbon dioxide (CO2) and contribute to the conservation of more than 30 thousand trees.

The INEA constitutes a key tool to monitor the countrys environmental performance, evaluate the effectiveness of public policies and strengthen environmental governance through reliable and timely technical information.

With the publication of INEA 2020-2024, Minam reaffirms its commitment to the conservation of biodiversity, action against climate change and the promotion of sustainable development that contributes to improving the quality of life of the population and protecting the countrys natural heritage for future generations.
