π Tender Overview
The Geophysical Institute of Peru IGP an agency attached to the Ministry of the Environment MINAM will participate the following week in the Peru with Science fair organized by CONCYTEC and the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima during the National Science Week. This fair will be held on November 11 12 and 13 in the Parque de la Muralla located in the Historic Center of Lima. In this event the products advances and novelties of scientific research and technological development will be presented which contribute to the progress of the country. The IGP will present the Peruvian Seismic Alert System SASPe where the project and the components that the institution is in charge of will be presented. Within these we have 1 Hazard identification which consists of research on the genesis and processes that develop earthquakes as well as the construction of high-risk scenarios for the population and 2 Hazard monitoring and warning this is based on the continuous monitoring of seismic activity in order to identify earthquakes of high magnitude to send seismic alerts to urban areas. Dr. Hernando Tavera executive president of the IGP comments that there are 106 sensors that have been installed along the coastal zone of Peru from Tumbes to Tacna plus some islands. This system called SASPe is a network of sensors that when detecting a high-magnitude earthquake emits a signal through radio waves to alert urban areas that have this coverage with a variable time in advance he specified. In this way the IGP through scientific research continues to contribute to the well-being of the country by generating and sharing scientific knowledge for all Peruvians with the aim of continuing to carry out Science to protect us science to advance .
