As part of the response actions against the floods caused by excessive rains, and as announced by the mayor of the Provincial Municipality of San Roman - Juliaca, Lic. Oscar Caceres Rodriguez, the coordination meeting between municipal officials and representatives of the Our Cities Program of the Ministry of Housing was held, for the provision of the use of heavy machinery in the desilting and cleaning of the Torococha River.
The Regional Coordinator of the Puno Basic Operational Unit, of the Our Cities Program - Machinery, of the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation, Eng. Ana Alarcon Flores, participated in the meeting, as well as the Municipal Manager, Dante Coasaca Nunez, and officials from the Urban Development, Infrastructure, and Road Maintenance Departments.
A technical team then carried out a tour of the banks of the Torococha River to identify the points of intervention and begin the work of cleaning and desilting the riverbed in the coming days. For this purpose, machinery consisting of an excavator, backhoe, front loader and dump trucks will be made available to the municipality.
