In order to achieve economic reactivation in the Cabo Blanco cove, in the district of El Alto, Talara, the regional director of Energy and Mines, Eng. Gaby Julca Cumbicus, participated in a multi-sectoral work table, in which the ministers of Energy and Mines, Production, Environment and the vice-minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism were present, as well as other officials, fishing leaders and tourist operators of the area. In this meeting held in the district of El Alto, the head of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, Jorge Montero Cornejo, stated that his sector is focused on optimizing the security in the infrastructure of transport and storage of hydrocarbons installed along the entire coastline, this as part of the actions implemented after the oil spill that occurred in Lobitos.
In this sense, he announced the publication of the Supreme Decree that authorizes Osinergmin to begin the guiding inspection of public and private companies with this type of facilities, from Tumbes to Tacna. The minister pointed out that this process will include the inspection of platforms, pipelines and oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) terminals along the entire coast. On the other hand, the Minister of Production, Jorge Gonzalez Guerrero, specified that, through Fondepes, interest-free loans with a six-month grace period will be granted to artisanal fishermen affected by the abnormal waves and the oil spill. With this, seamen will be able to have resources to acquire motors, fishing gear and other supplies.
The head of the Ministry of the Environment, Juan Carlos Castro Vargas, highlighted the installation of an office of the Environmental Assessment and Oversight Agency (OEFA) in the province of Talara, as part of the commitment assumed a few months ago from his portfolio.
Meanwhile, the Vice Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Madeleine Burns Vidaurrazaga indicated that emphasis has been placed on the preparation of the technical file for the Cabo Blanco tourist boardwalk. With the obtaining of the respective permits, it is estimated that it would be ready by the end of the year so that the execution stage can begin in 2026.
In light of these measures adopted, the executive director of the Regional Directorate of Energy and Mines (DREM), Eng. Gaby Julca Cumbicus, also committed to continue coordinating with all the competent institutions to achieve a balance in the productive sectors of hydrocarbons, fishing and tourism in the province of Talara. Let us remember that the head of the DREM has held constant meetings with authorities, officials and leaders since the oil spill was recorded in Lobitos, achieving that Petroperu progressively fulfills the commitments assumed in favor of the population.
