The Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion MTPE will hold the virtual forum called Dialogues in the time of COVID-19 public policies for the prevention and eradication of child labor and the protection of adolescents who work on the 11th and June 12 with the participation of officials from the Executive Brazil and representatives of the International Labor Organization ILO.The event which will take place within the framework of the World Day Against Child Labor which is commemorated on June 12 of each year will present the progress of the Peruvian State with respect to the prevention and eradication of child labor as well as the actions that have to be reinforced to face this situation in the context of the health emergency caused by COVID-19.On Thursday the 11th specialists in the subject of Occupational Safety and Health will participate from an approach of prevention of child labor as well as in labor inspection.In accordance with the forum program the general director of Fundamental Rights and Safety and Health at Work of the MTPE Sergio Quiones will be in charge of the words of greeting after which the national coordinator of the Fight against Child Labor of the The Brazilian Ministry of Economy Rafael Lopes de Castro will develop the theme Inspection as an essential activity during the pandemic.In turn the director of Safety and Health at Work of the MTPE Karla Canova will present about The safety and health at work of adolescent workers in a context of pandemic.For her part the director of Promotion of Protection of Fundamental Labor Rights of the MTPE Cecilia Tello will address the topic Identification and registration of adolescent work to protect the adolescent who works while the regional technical officer of the Americas Regional Initiative Latin America and the Caribbean Free of Child Labor Mara Olave Bernuy will speak on Dangerous Adolescent Labor a challenge in the Latin American region. On Friday the 12th the Vice-Ministers of Labor Juan Carlos Requejo the Vice Ministers of Pedagogical Management of the Ministry of Education Diana Marchena and of Policies and Social Evaluation of the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion Claudia BenavidesAll of them will offer reflections on the contribution of national policies to their competences and the contribution to the prevention and eradication of child labor within the framework of public action to confront child labor in the days of COVID-19.Also there will be the intervention of the director of the ILO Office for the Andean Countries Philippe Vanhuynegem.It should be noted that the forum is the appropriate stage to report to the public on the progress made in the implementation of this public policy and also to summon everyone to join efforts in achieving this objective which is not more than the conviction that children and adolescents must be protected and allow them to study enjoy their free time and develop in a healthy way.Likewise it should be noted that Peru is considered a Pioneer Country of the Alliance 8.7 an ILO strategy that seeks to accelerate the steps to fulfill Goal 8.7 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals precisely related to eradication child labor forced labor and human trafficking.The virtual forum will have the online participation of more than 150 people who will have the opportunity to interact with the exhibitors express their opinions and raise their concerns on each of the topics.
